Remember that ole junkyard chair?

So brooke and I were bored today so we finally decided to finish the chair- yep the one that has been sitting in my basement for about a year- the one I spotted in the okotoks junkyard and knew it could be beautiful. the one Keshia and I strapped into the back of her truck and drove all the way back with the help of an english rugby player thats right -adventures adventures with this chair. So this is the before shot...

all of the fabric off except the bottom- we sanded the edges and painted the wood a white color but not to thick because we're going to antique it later- you would not believe what we found in this chair- old grandma lipgloss a paintbrush money pencils and pens legos ect...it was like a treasure chest.
We took off the cardboard backing and the batting to redo the tufted buttons- we just bought these at the fabric store- usually you cover them with fabric but I loved the whimsical look the big white buttons looked so we kept them white- we used embroidery thread to sew the buttons on- brooke stood on one side while I was on the other shed thread it through and id push it back and tie them- so this chair is going to be mega sturdy- heaven knows I'll need it with my boys!
AND HERES THE AFTER!!! I think it turned out freakin amazing I have to say- we took our time and decided to figure out the tufting even if it took us all day long. We are now expert upholsterers! We even did it with 4 kids who really really wanted to sit in it the whole time we were redoing it.
I love the scrollwork and how fresh the white paint makes it look.
our white buttons and close ups of the tufting
We still need to get trim to put around the edges to really give it a clean finish- but all in all I think it looks polished and gorgeous- I was actually a little surprised it turned out so great. Also surprised me that we really didn't end up using the old fabric as a pattern we just started with the fabrics center pattern and worked our way out from the middle. the fabric wasnt long enough so we have 2 seams on the front- you cant really see them because of the tufts- so that worked out well.
I'm officially in love...and can not wait to do my couch!- all white? black and white damask? the possibilities are endless! I just need a great deal on upholstery fabric- this chair used about 5 meters- I can't imagine what that couch is going to need.
A huge shoutout to Brooke who helped me figure it out! And worked all day with me on it.

So Brooke sent me the link to this adorable hardware idea for my hot pink table-
is it not a fun idea?
OH I LOVE HAVING A GIRL
Heres a couple other fav's- which one do you like? I want to find an old junky dresser and redo it with some of this hardware too. Keshia found one at value village and its quite a treasure!
Anyone up for a trip to the junkyard?
I'm excited for a spring of redoing couches chairs and dressers. There's something about taking something old and making it new again that thrills the heck out of me.

Oh road trips- gotta love them- 4 crazy canadians well 3 and one american- going over the border driving 6 hours to go to target- thats dedication- yes we each had our own cart-yes we all had hot coco's- yes brooke and I tried on dresses while still shopping so we'd have more time- and got stopped by security- HAAAA- we quickly explained we just wanted to take everything in and see as much as possible as quickly as possible. The hotel was awesome pool sauna hot-tub and it was so relaxing to sleep in..till 8 :)
Literally 4 hours at target- so many treasures- I've missed it so much - we also had some awesome mexican food!

The driving was a little crazy we trusted the gps-
not doing that again
It led us to the wrong border... that was closed-
down gravel roads and into a canyon with no side barriers-
we saw wild horses- 4 crazy dogs -
sang in the car-
payed duty-
went to antique stores-
got chocolate melted on buts-
drove in a snow storm-
laughed so hard-
didn't get home till like 2 am-
andddd
it was legendary-
might have to be a yearly tradition-
may I say these pictures of Ingred make me laugh so hard.

My major treasures... a 1940's pink felt hat EEEEKKKK! and a scalloped red cake stand!

{Old things made new}

Ok- I really am Kind've into vintage stuff latley thanks to my friend keisha-I was trying to think of what to finish my boys room in and when I saw what she did with her kids rooms I adored them-so I took some pictures of her creativness to share..my fav's include..the dress form-hanging one of Livies dresses as art-an old window with cardboard glue gunned to the bottom and minitures on the top-the old mirror we found a couple weeks ago- it was from an 80 year old ladies house- cool eh- I love things with stories behind them and I think stuff you put on your walls should tell a story. I love nixons crib its so old and spindilie- and I love the color. The old hand mirror and brush set put a bit of glam into the room and I love the old baseballs and toy indians and soldiers on nixons shelf. The white dresser keisha is going to revamp with new hardwear and some moldings- I can't wait to see what she does with it.

We're going to the salvage yard next week to look for old numbers for my walls for my guest bedroom I'm doing in yellow and brown- heres the inspiration picture... anyone else want to come?

But here are a couple things we really liked- We went to a new place this time-one we found last time but they were closed.I really wanted the settee - I wanted to get it and paint it black and reupholster the red in white for a very baroque feel. -loved the old sewing machine- mosty for its color- the hand mink thing was awesome-loved the 80s chairs-and flapper hat- I also found a white felt hat I wanted to get but it was a little girl size one :(- really it was so cute!-anyways it was lots of fun-our kiddos and all- both of us with our double strollers-WATCH OUT- we're crazy shoppers! Nothing will stop us!
