IT DONT MATTER IF YOUR BLACK OR WHITE

We're redecorating our living room and this week I've painted just about my whole house- living room 2 end tables and my coffee table. My new motto is If you look at the piece and it dosn't make you smile- turn it into something that does- and only buy pieces you adore.- I have to find hardware for all of them but so far Im in love with both. Great way to refreshen your surroundings without spending a fortune

Some new dresses

This dress aunt crystal bought coco in mexico- I love all the detailed embroidery- even though Im not a hge embroidery fan I thought this dress had gorgeous work!

While I was In Utah I made matching dresses for coco and her cousin evia-

they look adorable in them I have to say!

So not the best picture of the dress but I also made this one from a fat quarter yard- and added rosettes to the top- i coldnt believe how easy it was to make a pillowcase dress- they are kind've my fav for hr right now- and I love that I can pick what colors she wears and dress her in an adorable dress for about 5 bucks and an hor of my time.

So brooke and I were bored today so we finally decided to finish the chair- yep the one that has been sitting in my basement for about a year- the one I spotted in the okotoks junkyard and knew it could be beautiful. the one Keshia and I strapped into the back of her truck and drove all the way back with the help of an english rugby player thats right -adventures adventures with this chair. So this is the before shot...

all of the fabric off except the bottom- we sanded the edges and painted the wood a white color but not to thick because we're going to antique it later- you would not believe what we found in this chair- old grandma lipgloss a paintbrush money pencils and pens legos ect...it was like a treasure chest.

We took off the cardboard backing and the batting to redo the tufted buttons- we just bought these at the fabric store- usually you cover them with fabric but I loved the whimsical look the big white buttons looked so we kept them white- we used embroidery thread to sew the buttons on- brooke stood on one side while I was on the other shed thread it through and id push it back and tie them- so this chair is going to be mega sturdy- heaven knows I'll need it with my boys!

AND HERES THE AFTER!!! I think it turned out freakin amazing I have to say- we took our time and decided to figure out the tufting even if it took us all day long. We are now expert upholsterers! We even did it with 4 kids who really really wanted to sit in it the whole time we were redoing it.

I love the scrollwork and how fresh the white paint makes it look.

We still need to get trim to put around the edges to really give it a clean finish- but all in all I think it looks polished and gorgeous- I was actually a little surprised it turned out so great. Also surprised me that we really didn't end up using the old fabric as a pattern we just started with the fabrics center pattern and worked our way out from the middle. the fabric wasnt long enough so we have 2 seams on the front- you cant really see them because of the tufts- so that worked out well.

I'm officially in love...and can not wait to do my couch!- all white? black and white damask? the possibilities are endless! I just need a great deal on upholstery fabric- this chair used about 5 meters- I can't imagine what that couch is going to need.

My tree and sock dilemma

my boys climb on the couch- theyve already knocked the tree over...I'm terrified to put anything up.- The white kind've looks like natural first with fallen snow though...-but it's killing me not to put up my ornaments- I just know It will be a constant battle all through december if they go up. Not sure I want that battle.

presents are safe up there- put I miss my stockings!- yes I'm worried about the boys pulling them down- I didn't think about this 2 years ago- so what do you guys do to kid proof your holiday attire?

it was like the heavens opened when I saw this beauty!

I'm teaching a class this saturday on entertaining- one of my fav things to do is put new art up every holiday or just change it a little so it goes with the season- this piece for instance will probably get a coat of cream in the spring time. Seriously people this is so cheap to do get a 40 percent coupon from michales buy some canvases go to the dollar store get some paint- sketch a silhouette of something you love- they are easier to mess up on :) and ta da- a fresh winter scene in your house for under 20 bucks- that can be reinvented later!

Also another inexpensive decor solution if your not into sketching anything- just get the canvas- some mistints from Benjermin moore-they are half as much turn the canvas sideways and pour the paint down- I suggest doing the darkest colors first so the lighter ones show up.

I'm kind've into woodland creatures right now- I had an extra canvas so I decided to make something happy for my bathroom for the winter season. I'll get in creative moods where I just need something relaxing to focus on-painting does this for me. I learned to love it when for a full week in high-school in a humanities class I had all we did was watercolor- I did a replica of Monets Waterlilly's

I lived to go to school that week.

When I'd get stressed in University- I'd go paint.

The best part about making your own art is when you look at it it makes you smile and you can change it whenever you want.

Domestic Divas!

So this Thursday night at my house at 7 p.m is Domestic Divas night. My Sister- in Law Brooke is a Professional Interior Designer. She's going to come and teach us about the top 10 design mistakes that people make in their houses. Then she's going to do a Q and A. Bring questions and even pictures of your houses. Or upload them to somewhere online and I'll have my laptop we can just pull them up on. Everyone bring their Favorite treat. Trust me you don't want to miss this good info. Class and Music

I was able to teach a class on digital scrapbooking and blogging today. It was super fun. I love sharing my love of blogging and what an outlet it is with others. I also got to practice a song I'm singing in church tommorow-and have a musical Christmas carol Rehearsal. It got me all christmasie! I Can't say enough about how I feel when I

sing. It's like theres something deep inside me that just has to come out. I've focused on other things since college and I really miss the musical part of me. Hopefully I'll get to have more oppertunities to sing It made me feel like very true bree.

Debut at the Bridal Show

So sorry these pics are random- they were shot with a larger file size camera and I'm still adjusting- but here are a couple pictures- yay it went so good!
